Skin Care

The best way to get the most out of your natural skin care products is to choose them on the basis of your skin type. There are four basic skin types: oily, normal, dry and sensitive. There is also a so-called “combination” skin, which is usually oily around forehead and nose (T- zone) and drier on cheeks. These categories are quite general because all skin changes depending on factors such as environment, stress levels, diet or exercise. At times your skin’s requirements may change needing more or less nourishment, hydration, protection and healing.

How to identify your skin type

Normal Skin

Your skin feels supple most of the time.

Your skin looks even most of the time.

You rarely have breakouts.

 Your pores are not enlarged.

Your skin does not have blemishes or rashes.

Your skin does not form lines or wrinkle easily.

Your skin does not have excessive oiliness or dryness.

Normal skin types require daily skin care to provide protection from environmental factors and to maintain normal skin function.

Oily Skin Type

You experience an oily sheen throughout the day.

You often get break outs.

Your skin tends to develop blackheads or blemishes.

You have acne problems sometimes.

Your pores are enlarged.

People with oily skin should carefully cleanse the skin morning and night, taking care not to dry the skin too much. Most oily skins will be stimulated to produce more oil when they are excessively dried out. Alcohol based toners should be avoided.

Dry Skin Type

Your skin needs constant nourishing.

You don’t get breakouts.

You have premature fine lines.

Your pores are invisible.

Your skin feels tight and dry.

The cleansers, toners and moisturisers used on dry skin need to be nourishing, softening and hydrating. Night creams nourish and repair while the body is resting. A weekly nutrient-rich facial mask treatment provides healing and extra nourishment.

Sensitive Skin Type

Your skin readily burns and becomes inflamed.

Your skin often gets red, irritated, flaky or itchy.

Your skin gets rashes.

Your skin reacts to certain products.

You sometimes get break outs.

A sensitive skin needs extra care and should never be exposed to harsh or harmful chemicals. This type of skin requires gentle products that calm and soothe the skin.

Overall La Finca Herbs products are suitable for most sensitive skin types. However, a “patch test” is recommended to rule out any irritation before using any skin care products. Consultation with a qualified skin health professional should be considered.
